Shawfield Stadium – Ballymac Ovanny

Professional trainer Mr AG Power and licensed kennel hand Mr S Heyburn were found in breach of rules 152(i) & (ii) and 174(vi) of the GBGB Rules of Racing, while the authorised representative for Shawfield Stadium was found in breach of rules 152(i) & (ii), 173(iii) and Appendix IV of the GBGB Rules of Racing in that a point of registration sample taken from the greyhound BALLYMAC OVANNY at Shawfield Stadium on 2 December 2016 indicated a steroid profile inconsistent with a greyhound but that of a human.

Professional trainer Mr AG Power was reprimanded and fined £500, kennel hand Mr S Heyburn had his licence withdrawn indefinitely and the authorised representative for Shawfield Stadium was severely reprimanded and fined the sum of £3,000.

The committee also made a recommendation to the Regulatory Board that the area stipendiary steward, Mr Alex McTaggart, makes more unannounced visits to Shawfield stadium to ensure compliance with the GBGB Rules of Racing.

 

Mr Christopher Joyce – Reporting of Euthanasia

Greyhound trainer Mr C Joyce admitted breaches of rules 18(ii) & (iii) and 152(i) of the GBGB Rules of Racing in that he failed to notify the GBGB of an emergency euthanasia for the greyhound GENEVA VELOZ. Mr Joyce was reprimanded and fined the sum of £300.

 

Former Professional Trainer Mr Malcolm Taylor

Former professional trainer Mr M Taylor was found in breach of rules 152(i) & (ii), 174(xi), 212 and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing for failing to comply with improvement notices issued to him by GBGB and to ensure the welfare of greyhounds in his care.  Mr Taylor was warned off indefinitely.
