If two qualities are needed above all others in a top class sprinter, they are are surely ‘ability’ and ‘consistency’. Just a day after litter brother Argentina had won the Gain Puppy Derby, Calzaghe Flash went unbeaten through the Local Parking Security National Sprint at Nottingham.

It was the 11th race of Flash’s career (6 wins, 2 seconds, 3 thirds) and his two length winning time over Gentle Storm was 17.55 (+10) for the 305m – just one spot quicker than his semi final win.

The race also marked the retirement of Jean Liles’ Trapstyle Jet. The British bred son of Droopys Jet was contesting his third NS final having won it two years ago.
