With no new times to add to the regular table this week, we decided to take a look at the comparative 480m (525yd) times comparing between Britain and Ireland.

The figures should be taken at face value when comparing tracks. In Ireland, for example, it would be a mistake to suggest that recently departed Derry ran 20 lengths slower than Curraheen Park – since the Brandywell circuit didn’t feature too many hounds of Curious Boy’s ability, but the fact that Tralee and Waterford had virtually fastest identical times, or that Harolds Cross and Dundalk times are so similar is at least of interest. And what of Clares Rocket, with 27.87 at Clonmel, 28.00 at Limerick and 28.06 at Shelbourne?

Similar comparisons can be made in England. We have previously featured time comparisons for Droopys Buick, but Domino Storm is also fascinating. Her 27.52 at Sheffield suggests times are roughly half a second quicker than the other Derby contending track, Towcester. Her fastest two runs at Wimbledon are 28.23 and 28.24.AUSTRALIAN FEED SMALL
