£107, £197 and £504. For a three sum overview of the Coral Champion Stakes semi finals, the three tricast dividends would suggest all didn’t quite go to the form book. All three favourites were eliminated, with only one coming to the aid of trio punters.

To take another angle, it was a tale of front runner opportunists and missed breaks, though Patrick Janssens might feel particularly unfortunate with a desperately unlucky Desperado Dan in the third qualifier.

And a final overview? It isn’t the best Cat 1 final of the year, but it could reasonably be won in 35.30 which would give realistic expectations for the connections of the three dogs and three bitches.

It is a final laced with experience. John Mullins, Seamus Cahill and Kevin Boon are previous winners of the event. Mark Wallis has won it three times, most recently in 2018 with Bombers Bullet.

Saleen Ash finished back in third place a year ago. The decider will the 75th race for a veteran who moved into his Lakenheath pad before the two youngest qualifiers were even born.
