I confess to a slight smile when reading Saturday’s Racing Post Muttley column.

For those who missed it – the pup by many fathers decided to have a pop at the inclusion in the May issue of Greyhound Star of the GBGB Calendar’s open race fixtures.

The Post wondered whether it was a ‘grab for power’ or a ‘space filler’?

If offering to include the Calendar as part of the Star – at cost – and save the GBGB roughly £50K per year is a bad thing – guilty as charged.

Not sure it will ever happen – I have too many enemies who don’t seem to give a toss about wasting money – but I wanted to show it was achievable.

As for ‘space filler’ – we actually ran an extra eight pages in that issue to accommodate the Calendar details, but only used five.

But saving space can be an important issue – which is perhaps why my Racing Post hasn’t carried any results from Saturday.
