Doncaster will stage the re-run of Wednesday night’s void St.Leger heat as the first race on Saturday’s card.

In Wednesday’s heats, Pond Natalya, who had previously run the British bred Oaks in some style over the track’s four bend course, swerved to the inside of the inside running rail after leaving the traps and ran across the centre field.

Promoter John Watson said: “What can you say? The track has been open for 16 or 17 years and it is the first time it has ever happened. There will always be a gap on the inside because the traps have to be rolled on and off. The other heats went off as expected.

“We will make arrangements to put something temporary in place for the re-run. What else can we do?”

RM Nathan Sheppard said: “I spoke to John first thing about making arrangements for the re-run before I contacted connections. Harry Williams is happy to bring Pond Natalya (T1) back. Piemans Noelle (T2) is a 50/50, I think there is some concern about the extra run so quickly.

“Mark Wallis will bring back his pair Aayamza Express (T3) and Ava Storm (T4) and Seans Molly (T6) is a confirmed runner. Kevin Boon (T5) won’t be able to get to the track on Saturday so Leemount Venus (T5) will be a non-runner.

“Kevin seemed very philosophical about it. His biggest concern was that his bitch wouldn’t have to re-trial, which she won’t.”
