A string of injuries has left Seamus Cahill feeling pessimistic for the future racing career of Astute Missile who broke a hock in a trial at Hove on Thursday.

The Star Sports English Derby winner, contesting his second trial since his Towcester triumph pulled up lame and was immediately scratched from next week’s Betfred Select.

Trainer Seamus Cahill said: “It looks to be as bad as they get though Stefano (Malegori, vet) says it is possible he will race again. At this stage though, after a run of injuries, I don’t hold out a lot of hope. The Dundalk dog (Droopys Acrobat) did a wrist, and another expensive young dog broke a hock in trials. You just have to get on with it though.”

The draw for the Select has since been made  (sponsor’s betting)

T1 Dorotas Wildcat (5-2) , T2 Droopys Buick (7-2), T3 Bubbly Bluebird (9-4) T4 Murrays Act (20-1), T5 Newinn Shadow (5-1), T6 Dorotas Woo Hoo (5-1)
