Heat 27

BALLYCANNON BOB Arc semi finalist (12-1) who has won two of his six races with a best of 28.58. On Swindon form, something to find on six

QUIVERS CAMPS NON RUNNER – lame

DROOPYS ASTORISH Runner-up in the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby (co.f) after 27.87 (calc) heat form. Recent trials would be a concern.

COSTA 2015 Golden Crest finalist now near four year old with two races this year, both defeats. Hard to make a case for him to qualify.

BALLYMAC LYSTER Ladbrokes Puppy Derby third (10-1). Only two wins in 13 opens – will be battling on to qualify

FACE THE BLADE On all known form, draw and class, it is impossible to look past him in this qualifier. Could make the ‘24’ with decent draws.

Heat 28

ON ALERT Narrowly missed out on a place in the quarters last year the 4-y-o is lightly raced and has a better chance than recent form suggests

ELA ALECKO Kirby Memorial semi finalist who got to within a neck of Droopys Roddick in an earlier round. Better than trials suggest, running on.

SWABYS NORAH Roddick’s litter sister is A1 at Romford and has 28.75 (calc) form over course and distance. Slightly up against it I this company

BOYNEVIEWFANTASY Six wins in 11 races in Ireland up to 575yds. Looks set for lots of Romford 575 opens, not Derbys.

CROSSFIELD MOLLY One of the best bitches in the Derby, in great form, has decent clocks over course and distance (28.51) Nap of the night

BALLYMAC ODOWD Pup still to win a race. On all known form, plenty to do in this company.

Heat 29

LENSON ROCKY Unbeaten to final of Juvenile Classic (3rd). Three wins from eight races. Capable of winning heats, but tough opposition in five

MELODYS GEORGE 28.63 Tralee – one win in five in Ireland and landed Romford S1 on debut. Lots of Romford Friday 575 opens to come

CHARITY BUSTER Henlow Maiden Derby win – record of 7/11 including one KO. Clocked 28.42 on his first visit to Plough Lane. Has to be taken seriously.

SNEEZYS HERO 24.00 for 400m Romford, sub 28.00 for 480m at Monmore. Can clearly run but this is one of the hardest heats of the first round

BARRICANE BULLET Great strike rate, calculated 28.40s over the course, given any sort of luck, a young improving dog who could make the final.

KEREIGHT DODGER Fourth in Shelbourne dual distance. Has Irish record of 3/11, 28.54 Shel Pk. Would be a big surprise if he could turn this lot over.

Sel: Barricane Bullet 6-4  BET365

Heat 30

TELLHIMJOHN Started in P7 Towcester and has gone on to win two opens – plus a calculated 28.27 at Monmore. Possible future over six bends

DEANRIDGE ANGEL Ex-Sheffield, more than holds her own against Towcester’s best with 27.92 form. Can progress from trial

VACANT

ROMEO IN MILAN Been running against the best pups and holds his own. Poor trapper with good early. Empty trap can help secure clear run.

SAND BRIER Bottom grade to Henlow Masters runner-up. Ordinary trial and tough opposition. Do well to qualify

KING ALLEY Maiden and British Bred Derby winner approaching four years of age. McNairs are normally hot in the early rounds . . .

Sel: King Alley 11-8  BET365

KING ALLEY

KING ALLEY

Heat 31

BLAKES TURBO Fengate Collar winner with a best line of form, probably of 28.01(calc) 480m Sheffield. Could win an easy heat. Is this it tho?

LOUGHTEEN EOIN Ran Rio Quattro to half a length in first round last year but then KO’d – literally. Reproduce trial form and could go close

VACANT

BALLYMAC SINBAD Went out second round last year. Runs the bends at Towcester so well, may get his chance here with an empty trap. Big price but not without a squeak

HONOUR JET Shawfield back marker beaten by Diego Flight in 500 final. No trial a big disadvantage

FIZZYPOP BUDDY Leger winner and beaten Regency favourite. Has recent 28.50 over course and distance but not in race company

Sel: Ballymac Sinbad 8-1  BET365

Heat 32

DOROTAS TIGER Pup with one race and 13 trials on his card. 28.14 Towcester, 28.65 Wimbledon. A huge ask for one so young

FARNEYS COOKIE At the other end of the scale from one – 82 races all tracks and distances.

TRAPPER JODIE Kinsley A1/A2 runner. Won’t be disgraced in one of the night’s poorer heats.

DEANRIDGE KERRY Ex-Lister runner – 28.59 Nottingam, 27.92 (T) Sheffield, might be good enough in here

GARRYGLAS DROOPY Two open wins in a dozen opens, both were over six bends including a good win over useful Coolavanny Lass. Final night 687?

BALLYMAC CATHAL A1 Nottingham, yet to win his first open and trials suggest this won’t be the one.

Sel: Deanridge Kerry 11-4  BET365

Heat 33

ALLEN WIZARD Last year’s Irish Derby Plate finalist whose UK career is a best of 27.63 at Henlow. Would need trouble from others to qualify

NOIRS ALLEN Won a stack of A1s at Monmore, but open race strike rate is less impressive. May also rely on others to qualify

TOMMYS SHADOWS Smallish dog won three from four in moderate stake at Clonmel. Might have a bit in hand but outside pair would be a worrry

VACANT

YASSOO MARTIN Fascinating hound. Unluckily out of Derby first round las year. Then clocked 28.33 in puppy race. One race in 2016 – loves striped box

ROXHOLME TED Went out in last years semis. A dog with tremendous gears though recent sprint trials are down a little on last year.

Heat 34

DOMINO STORM Oaks winner and one of the greatest, and most loved, bitches of her era. Won her last six, breaks track records, walks on water

DRAGON OVERLORD Ten races, one win, in D1 at Hove, best trial 28.86 at Wimbledon. Deep end doesn’t get any deeper

GENUINE DEEJAY Recorded 28.46 over course and distance last September but beaten in last eight.

CLONKEEN STANLEY Promising Monmore debut for Pat Rosney last year. Most recent win was in Towcester A3, nine races ago.

BUBBLY BINGO Ran the best race of his 11 race career to land trialstake in 28.79 (-10). Would need similar improvement to beat The Storm

KNOCKBROGAN KING Ran second to five in recent Romford open. Clonmel 28.71 form suggests he stays. Forecast with red?

Sel: Domino Storm 4-7  BET365

Heat 35

ROXHOLME BARKLEY Last year’s Trafalgar Cup winner clocked a superb 28.43 trial after defeat in first race of 2016. Could be a big player

HOLDEM BERNADO Went out second round last year. One win from three outings in 2016. Will have to step up on trials to make it to next round

FARLOE AXLE Won a decent puppy stake at Towcester (28.28) last autumn. Much better than recent trials, but will need to be in this qualifier

MUST BE JACK 27.99 Shelbourne, 21.18 Dundalk (400) dog who has raced against the elite with distinction. Decent trial – has to be respected

MAKING PAPER Fifth in last year’s final. 28.58 (500) Sheffield trial and a brilliant 28.28 over the Derby course suggest he will be a huge player.

BRINKLEYS KING Raced as Eightythreelarch, Kirny Memorial semis, bought out of Produce Stakes after heat win. Very tough UK debut

Sel: Making Paper 2-1  BET365

Heat 36

WONDER MILLIE A winner of six of his eleven races in Ireland. Best form probably 28.52 Shelbourne. Lacks Wimbledon experience. Big ask

HOVEX PRINCE Won his first two UK opens and beaten in his last eight including two at Wimbledon. Hard to make a case for his chances.

CASTLEDALE MAGIC Two races two wins at Tralee and 29.39 trial at Wimbledon. Needs more experience even in an average heat.

BANSHA ROOSKEY Has 28.13 winning form at Sheffield and a 28.76 trial at Wimbledon. Not one of the Draper’s leading aces on all known form.

LAUGHIL MAX Spent most of recent months in Sittingbourne A1 company. In this heat though, second a length to Lenson Jed won’t be too far away.

PASS TO GO With five wins and eight seconds in his last 13 races, looks by far the best qualified to win here. Repeat of trialstake run would probably do it

Sel: Pass To Go 6-5  BET365

Heat 37

SOLIVITAS ROCKET Nottingham specialist who beat Droopys Buick in an Eclipse trialstake. Elsewhere form in ordinary, trial disappointing too.

CALZAGHE BILLY Fifth in Northern Puppy Derby Final (12-1). Has since trialled Newcastle (28.50) and 28.23 Wimbledon. Has to be respected

CORK FALCON Exciting youngster who was withdrawn from Ladbrokes Puppy Derby semis. 28.84 and 28.80 Wimbledon trials. Good prospect

BUBBLY MONARCH One win followed by 16 defeats. Trialled well enough but one for the optimists.

SKY DANCER Open race wins at Swindon, Belle Vue and Henlow but will do well to survive the round

STAY LUCKY A slow burner who has progressed over time. Best form includes 28.61 (Notts 480) and his Wimbledon trial (28.54). Chances here

Sel: Calzaghe Billy 13-8  BET365

Heat 38

TEEJAYS PANTHER Grand Prix and Champion Stakes finalist. Would be fancied to win many heats, will do well to survive this one.

ROSWELL ICEMAN The kennel’s ‘Derby dog’ has not had a smooth path with five wins from 15. Starting to look the part in recent runs.

VACANT

BALLYMAC SHIRLEY Cracking early paced bitch with amazing strike rate. Beat Forest Twilight (28.73) at Sit’bourne, Flying trialstake. Can she clear T2?

DROOPYS CAMBS One race, lots of trials, and nothing to suggest he isn’t out of his depth here

BOYNESIDE FUN Made it as far as last year’s quarter finals with a 28.38 run. A bit off that recently, but Charlie can find a couple of lengths.

Sel: Roswell Iceman 6-4  BET365

Heat 39

LENSON WALCOTT Injury blighted career. Clocked 28.71 a year ago. Could possibly repeat that but it still might not be good enough.

PARADISE MAVERIK Missed a place in last year’s final by a head. Narrowly failed to retain Irish Cesarewitch title. Quality hound but short of ideal trip.

AIMNFIRE Golden Crest winner was a third round casualty in 2015. Would prefer a 450m Derby. PB of 28.77 which wouldn’t be good enough

BALLYMAC FRANO One win from his seven races to date, went out of Scottish Derby in the first round. Decent trial, can qualify

TARSNA HAVANA High class Irish entry whose early trials showed great promise but has leveled out slightly

HOT PIPE Scottish Derby winner, best previous run was 29.27 at Newcastle. Pleasing first trial – definitely one for the tricast

Sel: Paradise Maverik 6-5  BET365
