Hove record breaker Southfield Jock was the quickest of Friday night’s 13 heat winners with a 28.27 victory. Hiya Butt clocked the fastest sectional of the event so far – 4.63.
It was otherwise a night of very few shocks with eight winning or joint favourites barring the 20-1 win for Tony Collett’s Torphin Bluesky, in a four-runner race where top dual distance runner Diego Flight was the only favourite to be eliminated.
