There were shocks aplenty in the first eight heats of the second round of the Star Sports English Greyhound Derby at Towcester on Friday.

None came bigger than the elimination of ECC Puppy Derby winner Magical Bale in heat 5.

Other notables failing to make the cut included Lenson Blinder and Murrys Act.

It proved a great night for champion trainer (x many) Mark Wallis who sent out an impressive treble, including the feature race winner of the night as the kennel’s no.1 string Bruisers Bullet finally proved one too good for the exceptional Rising Brandy in heat four.

Bruisers is the new ante post favourite with the sponsors at 8-1 (click on advert – above – for full prices).
