Yarmouth’s experiment of staging the first round of their annual Track Championship on a BAGS meeting went according to plan. Although three of the six heats went to favourites, all heats were competitive with prospects of even tighter racing in the semis and final.

Quickest on the night was John Mullins’ Our Man Dan (2-1f) in the opening heat with a 28.33 one length victory. Kennelmate Rorys Way (5-4f) was also on the mark in 28.50. THere was also a double for Paul Burr: Roxys Lass (28.47) and Rorys Prince (28.44). Other winners were Harrow Wolf (28.62) and Monroe Bay (28.67).
