Russ Warren is sending Swift Curie straight back into battle following her exit from the Stones Bitter Queen Mother Memorial at Sheffield on Tuesday.

The local trainer is already looking forward to her next major target – the Pin Point Health and Homecare Three Steps To Heaven – and has entered her for a 500-metre open on Sunday’s card at Owlerton, saying: “I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed on Tuesday and I was very down that night, but you have to go forward and, hopefully, we will do better in the Three Steps.

Jim Hayton is another trainer with his eyes on Sheffield’s £10,000-to-the-winner tri-distance Category One competition with his Viking Jack returning to action on Sunday’s card. The 2014 Ladbrokes Gold Cup winner has not raced since mid-December, but he went well in a trial at Owlerton recently, clocking 28.67 for the 500 metres and Hayton is anxious to get some race action ahead of the start of the big race on March 24.
