Gymcrack and Select Stakes winner Brinkleys Poet completed his first handslip following a seven month lay-off at Monmore on Monday.

Trainer Mark Wallis said: “He was slipped just before the first bend and completed the full course before going into the pick-up. He appears sound this morning, though obviously it is only a first step in his recovery.

“I haven’t completely decided where he would go next, though if they can fit me in at Monmore on Saturday, I might be able to to give him a sprint before racing.”

Fastest of the session yesterday was Geelo Blissful with a 28.36 (-30) run for the 480m. Carl Perry’s bitch, who was omitted from the Racing Post Juvenile line-up clocked 28.43 for Nottingham’s 480 metres last time out.
