The Cahill and Holloway kennels have had some great Grand National battles over the years: Mash Mad Snowy v Westmead Meteor in the 2013 Grand National Final, Ballymac Manix v Razldazl Raidio in the ’16 and ’17 deciders.

This time they aren’t even waiting for the final with a top quality first semi final featuring five runners from the two kennels.

Sunday’s night’s four heats of the Cearnsport sponsored event provided some top class hurdling with last year’s Springbok and National Hurdle winner Lenson Wilson setting the standard.

Central Park’s Dan Homewood said: “That first semi final is very very strong, though I would still fancy Lenson Wilson on the draw. He is a class act as he showed again last night. Droopys Denny relies on his flat pace which is quite exceptional though last night was the best he has jumped.

“Droopys Trawlers jumping has improved bundles and he had a great battle to beat the Cahill’s other runner. The second semi final looks at the mercy of Mane Mane who also continues to improve.”

Betting 2-1 Lenson Wilson, 4-1 Mane Mane, 6-1 Caislean Fifi, Droopys Trawler, 12-1 Droopys Denny, 20-1 Shaneboy Bowie, 40-1 Barricane Jac, 50-1 Castlehill Wally, Emiles Eske, Turnhouse Jet, 100-1 Gemini Wonder
