Despite falling numbers British breds have continued to hold their own over all distances.

There is only one place to start with the Cambridge bred William Hill Derby winner Salad Dodger. Still over four bends, Take The Crown was magnificent with victories in the Stud Book Trophy and a dominant performance in the Produce Stakes. King Dec ran in top class company throughout the year, the highlight being his victory in the Pinpoint Arc. He also started favourite for the British Breeders Stakes but found one too good on the night in Swanslona Diva. Toosey Fern won the supporting Romeo Recruit At Stud Oaks. North East bred Mill Jolson was hampered by injury but looked a decent hound when winning the Gymcrack. Brits have always fared over extended distances and few could match the exploits of King Kane.
