Henlow’s new joint racing manager Martin Race finds it impossible to split Bull Run Button and Tea For Tess in the toughest of the three MSCM Ltd Bedfordshire Oaks semi finals scheduled for next Sunday.

Barrie Draper’s Bull Run Button was marginally quickest on the clock with a 27.69 (-10) run. Tea For Tess won her heat in 27.76.

Race said: “Bull Run Button was more impressive than the time suggests. She certainly didn’t get things her own way with early crowding at the first bend and ran a terrific race to win. Tea For Tess did everything right and looks well drawn in the semis. She isn’t an out-and-out railer; she tends to cut the bends.

“Mustang Kay Cee was another who ran very well on the day. She has terrific early pace and it will be a case of ‘catch me if you can’ in the first semi. And I don’t think they will.

“Linden Twiggy won her heat in good style, though I am not convinced that trap six is ideal for her in the last semi. Considering it was Emers Cookie’s first look at the place, I thought she adapted very well and may well find a bit next time out.”
