Riverside Pat caused a shock when going fastest in the William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes over 480 metres at Wimbledon on Saturday.

In the top division, which saw last year’s winner Salad Dodger withdrawn, Juvenile winner Ballymac Brogan looked big odds-on when racing into a clear lead.

However Graham Holland’s lightly raced Riverside Pat caught him close home to score by a length in 28.20sec.

Barrie Draper’s Ballymac Vickson was a trap to line winner of the opening Division W when holding Geelo Midnight by a length in 28.44sec.

Seamus Cahill’s Southfield Jock rode an early bump in Division I to go clear from the first turn and hold Millbank Stevie by three quarters of a length in 28.40sec.

Cahill has a double with View The Moon, who got first run on his rivals in Division L to account for Taranis Bolt by just over two lengths in 28.62sec.

Chris Allsopp’s Noirs Allen was soon clear in Division L to beat Burnpark Alpha by a length and a half in 28.43sec.

Allsopp had a double with Arc winner Kippers Usain in Division 1 when he made all to beat Lemon Laveer by almost three lengths in 28.45sec.

Norah McEllistrim’s Glenpadden Bolt gave a start and a three and a half length beating to Dusktildawn in Division I in 28.46sec.

McEllistrim had a double with Badmoonrising, who got the better of a battle with Drumsna Castle in Division M, by half a length in 28.57sec.

Jason Heath’s Boom Boom Hero avoided trouble in the inside in Division A to come home over seven lengths clear of He Got Fame in 28.46sec.

Jason Fosters Sparta Flame was soon clear in Division H to hold Droopys Tramore by a length in 28.58sec.

Near veteran Swift Perth went flying past pace-making Aughduff Murt at the third turn in Division L to score by three and a half lengths in 28.48sec.

John Mullins’ Coronation Cup winner Soviet Kenny was another strong finishing winner of next division when accounting for Bam Bams Barney by four and a half lengths in 28.41sec.

Elaine Parkers Gymcrack winner Stay Loose was soon clear in the last division and held off the late challenge of Viking Jack by a head in 28.63sec.
