Skywalker Archie (Top Savings-Cabra Fly, Oct 13) continued his pursuit of the Henlow Maiden Derby title with another flawless performance on Sunday night.

The Pete Swadden trained 4-6f whose last Irish victory was a 28.50 at Shelbourne Park, dominated the last qualifier after rocketing away to a 3.69 sectional. With eventual runner-up Salthill Model tangling with second favourite Quavors Knight on the rail, the leader came home six lengths clear in a time of 27.37 (previous 27.68) for the 460m.

The opening heat had gone to former Hove A1 runner Dusko Popov (Blonde Snapper-Westmead Diva, Aug 14). The Nick Savva trained black took up the lead at the first bend and held off Brocatsea Hoops by three in 27.42.

The other semi saw a dead heat between front running leader Chubbys Oak (Top Savings-Sizling Sarah, May 14) and the powerful Blackrose Dude (Droopys Cain-Wosie, Sep 14). Th3 6-4f and 4-1 chance were inseparable in 27.61.
