Nadurra Alvaro, the winner of the GBGB’s 2014 Greyhound of the Year award, posted his first victory of this year at Shawfield on Saturday night writes John Forbes.

The son of Ace Hi Rumble, who will be five in July, was the 2-1 favourite operating from the back of the handicap and he lived up to expectations, reeling in the front marker Lacken Missile in the final metres to score by a length.

Owner-trainer John McLachlan was just happy to finally get a run for his dog who had not raced since early January, saying: “We were down to run at two meetings that were hit by the weather and, of course, we didn’t have any runners on the weekend of the GBGB awards as we were down in London for that, so it was really good to get that first win in on Saturday.”
